- Import / export & exit Can you leave with a standard export? Avoid soft lock-in when evaluating “free forever” tiers.
- Security posture (practical) Audits, open-source vs proprietary, breach history handling. We weigh evidence over adjective marketing.
- Price ceiling & free tier honesty Device limits on free plans are the usual gotcha. If free or built-in meets constraints, paid is optional — we’ll say so.

Is a browser password manager “not real security”?

Should I keep TOTP codes in the same app?
Convenience vs compartmentalization. Most households do better with one tool they’ll maintain than a brittle multi-app ritual. Higher-risk users may split factors.
